REPORT OF VIRTUAL ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW 2022
115th ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW 2021, 45th Dahlia & Gladioli Show, 37th Cacti and Succulent Show and Annual Garden Competition of Nagpur Garden Club was held virtually on Wednesday 26th January, 2022 at 12.30pm. This was held in memory of Leelatai Subhedar, Past President and founder member of the club. Mr. Vinod Verma, Past District Governor of Lions was the Chief Guest for the inaugural function. Manisha Thakar, President welcomed the Chief Guest. Participants displayed about 700 exhibits in various sections like Annual Garden competition, Dahlia, Gladioli, Cacti & Succulents, Pots of Seasonals, Annuals, Hanging Baskets, Adenium, Bonsai, Roses, Cut Flowers, Flower Arrangement and decoration, Aquatic Plants, Lotus and Water Lilly etc. Since, it was a virtual show; people from outside Nagpur also participated in the competition.
Judges of the show were – Anupama Gijre, Dr Sumedha Puranik, Dr Mousumi Bhowal, Md Abdul Muqtadin, Prof Arun Waranashiwar, Dr N.V Shastri, Dr. Sangeeta Sharma, Dr Megha Bhamri, Smita Bhargava and Somvardhan Pandey
The chief guest admired efforts of the club, the participants and the judges and congratulated the prize winners. Kedar Gokhale, Chairman, Flower Show Committee and CA Dhananjay Gokhale provided technical support of digitally stamping prizes on exhibits and presenting album on Facebook page of the club. The show is available for viewers on Facebook.
Prize Distribution Ceremony of the show was held in physical format on Sunday, 6th February, 2022 at 4 pm at Senior Bhonsala Palace, Mahal, Nagpur. Dr. Raje Mudhuji Bhonsale, was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. Rani Yashoda Raje Bhonsale also graced the occasion. Mr. Ramesh Satpute, a renowned name in the field of medicinal and masala plants and a dedicated worker in the field of organ and body donation was the special invitee.
The function started by offering a tribute to Late Lata Mangeshkar. Then, the President Manisha Thakar welcomed the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honor. A booklet on care of Roses plants written by Dr. N.V Shastri was released at the hands of the Chief Guest. Dr. Shastri in his speech explained his idea behind the booklet. The Chief Guest, in his speech welcomed all the prize winners to the palace. He said that he had a long desire to hold a function of Nagpur Garden Club in Senior Bhonsala Palace and thanked Nagpur Garden Club for providing him the opportunity. He also donated a trophy to the club. This running trophy is to be awarded to the winner of highest aggregate points in Annual Garden Competitions, Annual Flower Show, Cacti & Succulents Show & Dahlias & Gladioli Show.
Kedar Gokhale – Chairman of Flower Show Committee presented a brief report of the virtual flower show. He informed that in spite of the pandemic and lock downs Nagpur Garden club did not break the tradition of holding flower shows on their time and has held continuous four flower shows in digital formats in last two years. He also, announced the names of prizes and trophies.

Following club members were present for the Prize Distribution Ceremony – Dr. Sunita Shrma- Vice President, Swati Gokhale, Dr. Yagnesh Thakar, Aarti Rajkondawar, Padma Deshraj, Dr. Pratima Shastri.
Mr. Ganesh Garud and his team of Senior Bhonsala Palace had made excellent arrangement of the prize distribution ceremony.
Ms. Rekha Deshmukh emerged as winner of maximum points in the show and was followed by Mansoora Zahoor Hasan. Mr. Prashant Telang won maximum points in the section of Roses. Following is the list of winners of running trophies.

REPORT ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW 2021
113th ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW 2021, 44th Dahlia and Gladioli Show, 36th Cacti and Succulent Show and Annual Garden Competition of Nagpur Garden Club was held virtually on Sunday 10th January, 2021. This was held in memory of Leelatai Subhedar, Past President and founder member of the club. Since, there is still some fear of COVID19 around, the club authorities decided not to take unnecessary risk for self, participants and the viewers and decided to hold the Annual Flower show also in the virtual format. Dr. Kuldeepsingh Darshansingh Thakur, Associate Dean, Vasantrao Naik College of Agriculture, Biotechnology, Yavatmal was the Chief Guest for the inaugural function. President Kedar Gokhale welcomed the Chief Guest and Manisha Thakar digitally presented lighting of traditional lamp, presentation of bouquet along with details of the program and few pictures of the competition. Anuradha Gokhale introduced the Chief Guest. 30 persons participated in the show and displayed about 600 exhibits in various sections like Annual Garden competition, Dahlia, Gladioli, Cacti & Succulents, Pots of Seasonals, Annuals, Hanging Baskets, Adenium, Bonsai, Roses, Cut Flowers, Flower Arrangement and decoration, Aquatic Plants, Lotus and Water Lilly etc. Since, it was a virtual show, people from outside Nagpur also participated in the competition. Participants had acquainted themselves with the technology required for displaying exhibits in digital format and show cased their exhibits with beautiful photography. Judges also did a very difficult task of judging exhibits presented in digital format.
Judges of the show were – Shailendra Sahu, Dr. Sumedha Puranik, Neha Chopde, Sarita Agrawal, Mousumi Bhowal, Sharad Paliwal, Om Jajodia, Dr. N.V. Shastri, (all from Nagpur) Sheel Yadav (Delhi), Archana Vaidya & Arun Waranashiwar (Pune).

Present for the function in zoom meeting were – Past Presidents, Vice Presidents etc to name a few Shrikant Doifode, Atul Mendhekar, Gulab Mahant, Arti Rajkondawar, Nitin Date etc and many participants along with family and friends.

REPORT MONSOON FLOWER SHOW 2020
Nagpur Garden Club & The Hitavada 112th Monsoon Flower Show & 45th Indoor & House Plants Show 2020 was held on Sunday 13th September, 2020. This was the first Virtual Monsoon Flower Show – 2020. It was 112nd Flower Show which and was held in memory of Smt. Kusumtai Wankhede. This year it is being held virtually due Covid pandemic. CA Rajeev Khandelwal, Grand Master of Grand Lodge of India was Chief Guest for inauguration of the Flower Show. President Mr. Kedar Gokhale welcomed the Chief Guest. Mrs. Manisha Thakar, Chairman Flower Show Committee conducted proceedings of the show on Zoom. Mr. Kedar Gokhale, Ms. Manisha Thakar & Dhananjay Gokhale together did the tabulation and results. Ms. Manisha Thakar proposed the formal vote of thanks. Nagpur Garden Club is indebted to Mr. Rajendra Purohit for being our partner for the show since last many many years we honour this the wonderful association with The Hitavada. I am thankful to Mrs. Aasawari Shenolikar, Magzine Editor and Mr. Abhay Vaidya for their support on behalf of The Hitavada. Such a big event is not possible without the efforts of all members who supported the Monsoon Show team. They namely are Club Immediate Past President Mr. Sharad Paliwal, Joint Secretary Mr. Nitin Date, Dr. Ashok Pathak and other members. The team of Judges who supported us throughout the event were Adv. Rahul Kumar (New Delhi), Mrs. Sheel Yadav(New Delhi), Mrs. Jyoti & Nikunj Parekh (Mumbai), Mrs. Archana Vaidya (Nashik) and the judges from Nagpur were Mr. Dilip Chinchmalatpure, Dr. N. V. Shasttri, Dr. Sumedha Puranik, Mr. Shailendra Sahu, Ms. Moushami Bhoval, Mrs. Sarita JugalKishore Agrawal, Mrs. Neha Chopde, Dr. Praveen Bhute, Mr. Sunil Gorde, Mr. Sharad Paliwal, Mrs. Smita Bhargava & Dr. Ashok Pathak. Mrs. Rekha Deshmukh was in the first position with 123 Points with 24 (1st Prize), 18 (2nd Prize) and 15 (3rd Prize).
Mrs. Mansoora Zahoor Hasan was at the second position with 78 Points with 14 1st Prize, 14 2nd Prize and 8 3rd Prize.
Mr. Prashant Telang was at the 3rd position with 49 Points with 12 1st Prize, 6 2nd Prize and 1 3rd Prize.
